Legacy Farms Program Application

Tay Valley Township is pleased to re-launch its Legacy Farms Program as part of its 25th Anniversary celebrations. Farms in the Township that have been in the same family for 100, 150 or 200 years (as of the date of application) are eligible for legacy farm designation. Approved legacy farm owners will receive an official certificate recognizing the award and, optionally, a sign. Please note that this program is for farms that now meet the program guidelines and were not previously recognized in 2016 during the 200th anniversary celebrations, and also for farms that were recognized and now qualify for the next legacy year level (150 years or 200 years).

Designation Criteria:

  • Direct descendants of the same family have owned the farm for 100, 150 or 200 consecutive years
  • A family member still owns the farm
  • The farm is still at least 50 acres in size (but does not need to be in active operation)
  • Incorporated farms and farm properties divided among several descendants are eligible
